Two new mechanical units, each weighing nearly 11 tons, were installed to maximize air circulation and quality in this turn-of-the-century building. Shmerykowsky Consulting Engineers designed a roof dunnage system which distributes the weight of the platform and the new mechanical units to the perimeter load-bearing brick walls. The new dunnage accommodates both units on a single platform, thus minimizing the points where the existing structure would need to be reinforced and minimizing the number of penetrations through the existing roof membrane.
