270 Park Avenue
JPMorgan Chase
New York, New York

Originally built for the Union Carbide Corporation, the 51-story tower has seen extensive renovations and name changes. John Shmerykowsky directed makeovers for the Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company and, following a merger with Chemical Bank, for the Chase Manhattan Bank.

Over the building's 46-year span, Shmerykowsky has provided building owners with structural design for numerous alterations, including a monumental stair connecting floors between top bank officials, an early trading floor, and ground- level security barriers.

The building currently serves as world headquarters for JPMorgan Chase, which plans major base-building and workplace renovations. Shmerykowsky Consulting Engineers provided analysis and schematic design for the project.
